Highland Vision (Part 1 of 3)

When myself and fellow young photographer Tom Hughes set out on our Highland vision project one species we had high on our agenda was the Red Squirrel. The Red being our only native squirrel in the UK is under threat from the ever advancing population of the invasive grey squirrel that were brought over from America. Having disappeared from much of there past range they are now only found in a few strongholds in the UK and across the Scottish Highlands. These charismatic little mammals made truly wonderful subjects with them each having their own personalities and traits. Tom and I spent about 20 hours working with the squirrels and were able to build up a pretty comprehensive portfolio of images. below is a selection of some of my favourites from the trip.

I will be adding more photos from the trip all week so stay tuned for the next parts of the Highland Vision project!
